**Paisley Buddies Encouraged to Get Involved in World Gaelic Week 2025**
Buddies in Paisley are once again being urged to participate in World Gaelic Week, known as Seachdain na Gàidhlig, set to take place from February 23 to March 2, 2025. The theme for the fourth edition of this event is “Ceanglaichean gun Chrìch,” which translates to “Building Connections” in English. Supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig, Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2025 aims to promote and uphold Gaelic language and culture throughout Scotland by fostering new connections and strengthening existing ones.
Residents of Renfrewshire are encouraged to make use of the small grants fund provided by Bòrd na Gàidhlig for Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2025. Funding of up to £500 is available for individuals, community groups, and organisations interested in celebrating Gaelic within their community. In previous years, this funding has supported various initiatives in Paisley, such as Gaelic workshops at Paisley Circus.
Fèis Phàislig utilized the festival and funding opportunities to introduce the Bàrd Phàislig: The Paisley Bard Resource Creation initiative at a family ceilidh. This resource contains extensive information about Donald MacIntyre, his works, and his ties to the town. Additionally, West Primary, home to Renfrewshire’s Gaelic medium learning, actively participates in the event’s schools programme.
Director of Seachdain na Gàidhlig, Joy Dunlop, emphasised the importance of language connections that unify individuals. She highlighted the open invitation for everyone, whether native Gaelic speakers, learners, or newcomers to the language, to engage in the in-person events, online activities, and schools programme of Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2025. The deadline for funding applications is October 31, and interested parties can apply through www.seachdainnagaidhlig.scot.
Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2024 was a resounding success, with global participants celebrating Gaelic language and heritage, showcasing its vibrancy and significance in Scottish and worldwide cultural life. Dunlop expressed eagerness for diverse ideas from Renfrewshire, encouraging potential applicants to share their initiatives and bring them to fruition.
The upcoming Seachdain na Gàidhlig promises an exploration of language connections and a celebration of Gaelic culture. Dunlop welcomed all forms of Gaelic celebration, underscoring the inclusivity of the event and the opportunities it presents for participants to build their connections and contribute to the preservation of Gaelic heritage.
In conclusion, Seachdain na Gàidhlig 2025 invites the Paisley community and beyond to embrace Gaelic language and culture, fostering connections and celebrating the richness it brings to cultural life. With the deadline fast approaching, individuals and groups are encouraged to submit their applications and take part in this landmark event.
