A dedicated supporter of Kamala Harris has expressed her distress over a pro-Trump Political Action Committee (PAC) allegedly twisting her interview snippet. The fervent Democrat, who intends to vote for Harris in the upcoming election, was deeply upset after discovering that a portion of her interview had been utilised in a pro-Trump advertisement.
Kimberly Burrell, a 53-year-old individual who lost a loved one to gun violence, partook in an NBC News interview back in July. She is one of five Black voters from Philadelphia interviewed by the network concerning the critical issues leading up to the election. However, snippets of Burrell’s interview have now surfaced in a conservative PAC’s advertisement criticising “Bidenomics.”
The advertisement concentrates on the economic situation under President Joe Biden, showcasing Burrell in an emotional state expressing her difficulties providing for her family. Burrell’s tear-stained face is frozen on screen alongside a video of Kamala Harris, with the ad suggesting a connection to “Bidenomics.”
When Burrell’s relatives notified her of her appearance in an anti-Harris ad by the Restoration PAC, she was devastated. The ad began airing on October 2, portraying her views in a distorted manner. Labelled as a “pro-Harris supporter,” Burrell revealed her emotional turmoil, expressing how she couldn’t stop crying upon discovering the misrepresentation.
In a statement to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Burrell, who works as a paralegal, condemned the PAC’s actions, labelling them as “sick” for manipulating her image and words. The majority of Burrell’s original interview revolved around gun violence, a personal tragedy she endured when her 18-year-old son was lost in 2009.
However, the group also discussed key concerns for the forthcoming election, including Burrell’s apprehensions about inflation. Burrell voiced her frustration with inflation caused by federal government policies but refrained from directly implicating the Biden-Harris administration.
Asserting herself as an informed voter, Burrell criticised the lack of consequences for individuals facing federal charges and advocated for their voting rights to be reinstated, subtly referencing former President Trump’s legal issues. When approached for comment, the Restoration PAC spokesperson responded dismissively, accusing the reporter of bias.
