A Coatbridge man found with two illegal stun guns has been placed under social work supervision for 18 months. Alan Dunion, 28, had one of the taser devices discovered in his jacket, which he had left behind in a police car after officers gave him a lift home. He appeared from custody at Airdrie Sheriff Court and admitted to possession of the stun guns while on bail for another matter.
Flora McCamley, prosecuting, explained that officers went to Bank Street around 3 am following concerns raised by a caller. They found Dunion, offered him a lift home, and discovered the stun gun in his jacket later on. A search warrant was granted for Dunion’s home where another taser was found in a set of drawers in his bedroom. Despite being held in custody since his arrest in May, Sheriff Paul Haran opted for social work supervision instead of additional jail time.
