Late-night TV host Stephen Colbert has taken a humorous dig at former President Donald Trump’s recent town hall event, where Trump entertained the audience with dance moves for over 30 minutes. Colbert, known for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” impersonated President Joe Biden’s reaction to the unusual event by wearing aviator sunglasses and cracking jokes.
During the town hall event in Pennsylvania, Trump called for his staff to play “Ave Maria” after two attendees experienced medical emergencies. As the second person received help, Trump called for the song to be played again. Colbert, in his impersonation of Biden, quipped, “At least switch up your sad music,” as he mocked Trump’s actions.
Following the medical incidents, Trump decided to end the question portion of the event, stating, “Let’s not do any more questions. Let’s just listen to music.” He then proceeded to dance to songs like “YMCA” and “It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World” for a significant portion of the event.
Colbert didn’t hold back in his mockery of Trump, highlighting the fact that Trump had only answered a few questions before filling the remaining time with dance. He even demonstrated Trump’s signature fist-pumping dance moves during his monologue.
In addition to mimicking Trump’s dance routine, Colbert also put on Biden’s iconic Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses and joked about being excluded from the race for being “too old and crazy.” He playfully referenced Trump’s false claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, with a nod to the musical “Cats.”
