Investigators have discovered disturbing new details in the case of the accused Georgia mass killer, Colt Gray. The 14-year-old suspect, who opened fire at Apalachee High School earlier this year, killing four people, had a hidden “shrine” in his room dedicated to past school shooters. The revelation came to light during a probable cause hearing in court where a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent provided a detailed timeline of the shooting.
According to reports from FOX 5 Atlanta, hidden behind Colt Gray’s computer desk was a “shrine of sorts” containing approximately 15 photos and newspaper clippings of previous school shootings and school shooters. Additionally, investigators found a notebook with sketches resembling his attack and a checklist for the day of the shooting, reminding him to chamber a round, put on gloves and a hat, and not to shoot anyone in the bathroom.
The disturbing behaviour did not stop there. Colt’s mother, Marcee Gray, revealed to investigators that her son had developed an obsession with guns, which worsened in the weeks leading up to the tragic incident. She recalled conversations where Colt made disturbing jokes about the Columbine High School and Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. Testimonies from family members also highlighted instances of increased violence from Colt towards his parents in the months preceding the shooting.
Moreover, it was revealed that Colin Gray, Colt’s father, not only purchased the rifle used in the attack but also bought a bore sight and ammunition for the gun. Investigators mentioned that Colin Gray did not appear surprised upon learning about the shooting and showed a lack of immediate remorse. He faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and cruelty to children in connection with the incident.
Following the court hearing, the judge ruled that there was probable cause to proceed with Colin Gray’s trial. The disturbing details that have emerged shed light on the concerning behaviour exhibited by Colt Gray leading up to the tragic events at Apalachee High School.
