Lomond Radio presenters celebrate one year of station’s Sport Show

Michael McVey and Jordan McKerry marked the first year anniversary of Lomond Radio’s sport show with a sense of achievement and joy. The duo began hosting the community station’s sports show a year ago, revitalising the local sports scene since the closure of Your Radio in 2018. Over the past year, the show has gained immense popularity, featuring notable guests such as Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell, East Kilbride manager Mick Kennedy, Paralympian Martin Perry, and broadcasting veteran Hugh Keevins.

Reflecting on their experience, Michael shared, “Being able to get people in is brilliant. We knew everything about some of the guest’s careers before they came in, but with others, we didn’t know quite as much.” Jordan added, “Every guest who we’ve had on has spoken really well. We’ve had some big names and some great people sharing great stories.” The duo expressed gratitude for the support received from the volunteer-run Lomond Radio, which enabled the show’s expansion from an hour to a two-hour slot earlier this year.

Michael praised the station directors, saying, “We’re so grateful to Lomond Radio for the opportunity. As the show has grown bigger, they have been so supportive.” Jordan highlighted the engaging nature of the show, mentioning, “It’s been really enjoyable, and hopefully we’ll have another good few big names to keep it going.” The presenters also shared that the show had not only grown in listenership but had also connected them with the community on a personal level.

Looking ahead, the duo revealed their dream guests, with Jordan expressing interest in having Steven Gerrard on the show, while Michael mentioned John McGinn as a potential guest from the world of sports. The Lomond Radio Sports Show airs every Sunday from 4 pm to 6 pm on DAB radio, offering a platform for local athletes and sporting personalities to share their stories.

As the show continues to captivate listeners and make a positive impact in the local sports scene, Michael and Jordan are grateful for the opportunity to bring engaging sports content to their audience. Through their dedication and passion for sports broadcasting, they have created a platform that celebrates local talent and inspires sports enthusiasts across the region.
