Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has shared his thoughts on his recent public criticism of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, stating: “It’s really me just saying what I’ve been saying for 10 years.”
The rapper, known for hits like “In Da Club,” has been a vocal opponent of Combs long before the latter was charged with sex trafficking and racketeering earlier this year. Recently, Jackson taunted Combs on social media after reports emerged that law enforcement had seized “more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant” during Combs’ arrest.
In an interview with People, Jackson explained: “Look, it seems like I’m doing some extremely outrageous things, but I haven’t. It’s really me just saying what I’ve been saying for 10 years. Now it’s becoming more full-facing in the news with the Puffy stuff, but away from that, I’m like, ‘Yo, it’s just my perspective because I stayed away from that stuff the entire time, because this is not my style.'”
It was recently announced that Jackson is producing a docuseries for Netflix focusing on the assault and sexual abuse allegations against Combs. The series will be directed by Alexandria Stapleton, known for her work on documentaries like “Reggie” and “How Music Got Free.”
In a joint statement to The Independent, Jackson and Stapleton emphasised the importance of giving voice to the voiceless and presenting authentic perspectives in the series. They also highlighted the broader contributions of hip-hop culture beyond individual actions.
While Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and other related offences, his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, maintains his client’s innocence, stating, “Mr. Combs is a fighter, he’s going to fight this to the end.” Combs has faced multiple civil lawsuits alleging rape and sexual abuse over the past year.
