McDonald’s reveals 2024 election endorsement plan after letting Trump work the fryer

McDonald’s Unveils 2024 Election Endorsement Strategy Following Trump’s Short Stint at the Fryer

The fast-food giant, McDonald’s, has unexpectedly found itself in the spotlight of the 2024 presidential election after Donald Trump made baseless claims about Kamala Harris’s past employment at one of the franchise’s locations. The controversy escalated when Trump himself was put to work at a Bucks County McDonald’s in Pennsylvania as part of a campaign stunt.

In response to the ensuing media attention, McDonald’s has clarified its position on endorsing presidential candidates. In a memo acquired by the Associated Press, the company stated, “McDonald’s does not endorse candidates for elected office, and that remains true in this race for the next President. We are not red or blue – we are golden.”

The memo also revealed that the franchise owner in Pennsylvania, Derek Giacomantonio, was approached by local law enforcement about Trump’s visit and was glad to host him. McDonald’s emphasised its commitment to serving the local community and providing delicious food, such as their renowned French fries.

While the majority of McDonald’s restaurants operate independently, franchise owners have the liberty to invite political figures to their establishments within certain guidelines from the parent company. Apart from Trump’s appearance, Harris and Tim Walz have reportedly been extended invitations to visit other McDonald’s locations.

Trump’s visit to the McDonald’s drive-thru was another attempt to mock Harris, whom he has accused of fabricating her work experience at the fast-food chain during her college years. Despite being dragged into the political narrative, McDonald’s has maintained a neutral stance, with a spokesperson stating, “Though we are not a political brand, we’ve been proud to hear former President Trump’s love for McDonald’s and Vice President Harris’s fond memories working under the Arches.”

As the restaurant chain navigates its unexpected entanglement in the election discourse, it continues to focus on its core values and commitment to inclusivity. The incident serves as a reminder of how brands like McDonald’s play a role in the broader societal conversation, even when they strive to remain apolitical.
