A 14-year-old schoolgirl has suffered potentially life-changing injuries in a suspected acid attack, with three others also injured in the incident. The attack took place outside Westminster Academy in central London at 4:45 pm on Monday, prompting a police manhunt for the perpetrators.
Upon being flagged down by staff members at the school in Alfred Road W2, two police officers and paramedics responded to the scene. They found three individuals injured as a result of the attack. A 16-year-old boy sustained non life-threatening injuries, a 27-year-old woman’s condition was also not life-threatening and has since been discharged from the hospital. However, the 14-year-old schoolgirl’s injuries are deemed as potentially life-changing, requiring ongoing treatment in hospital.
In addition, the two responding police officers were taken to the hospital as a precaution after reporting feeling unwell following the incident. The Metropolitan Police indicated that the substance used in the attack is believed to be acidic, and urgent investigations are underway to identify and apprehend those responsible. Multiple crime scenes have been secured in connection to the incident.
