A 27-year-old man in Rhode Island has been arrested and charged with domestic second-degree murder after allegedly strangling his mother to death and then calling 911 to confess the crime.
Bryan Wilson, of Rhode Island, is accused of killing his mother, Hawazoe Robinson, in her home on September 30, 2024. Wilson appeared in the Washington County District Court where he faced charges of domestic second-degree murder and violating a no-contact order.
Police in Narragansett received a call for a wellness check at Robinson’s residence on Monday afternoon. Simultaneously, Wilson allegedly called 911 to admit to the murder, stating that he had strangled his mother to death following a fight.
NBC 10 reported that a neighbour mentioned previous police visits to Robinson’s house related to her son. Wilson had been arrested in 2023 for domestic simple assault, with his mother as the victim in that incident.
Wilson is currently being held without bail, and his case has been referred to a grand jury for further proceedings. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 9.
Reports reveal that Robinson had converted a building on her inherited property in Liberia into a free Christian school for underprivileged children, demonstrating her philanthropic nature and commitment to helping the community.
