MSP Clare Haughey welcomed the 2023-2024 Achievement of Curriculum for Excellence Levels (ACEL) data, which shows a significant increase in literacy and numeracy levels among primary pupils. The figures reveal that the proportion of primary pupils in South Lanarkshire achieving expected literacy levels rose from 72 per cent in 2016-17 to 75 per cent in 2023-24. Similarly, expected numeracy levels in the region increased from 78 per cent to 81 per cent during the same period.
