James Maddison feeling fitter than ever as he targets England return

James Maddison is gearing up for a potential return to the England team, feeling fitter than ever as he aims to make his mark back on the international stage. The midfielder, who has been in impressive form at Tottenham, missed out on selection for Euro 2024 but is hopeful of catching interim manager Lee Carsley’s eye for the upcoming England squad announcement this week.

Having previously worked with Carsley at Coventry and with the England Under-21s, Maddison expressed his desire to be part of the national team setup again. He highlighted the positive impact of having had a break over the summer, not being involved in the Euros, which has allowed him to reach peak fitness levels and feel rejuvenated on the pitch.

Tottenham manager, Ange Postecoglou, praised Maddison’s performances and emphasised his belief that Maddison’s current form and contribution to the team could earn him a call-up to future England squads. The playmaker is set to feature in Tottenham’s Europa League fixture in Hungary following his absence in the previous match.

In addition to Maddison’s England aspirations, Postecoglou also touched upon the impressive performances of striker Dominic Solanke, who has been making a strong impact at Tottenham. Solanke, who scored against Manchester United, is eager to continue his goal-scoring streak and further contribute to the team’s success.

Furthermore, Maddison commended Spurs academy graduate Mikey Moore for his promising performance at Old Trafford and expressed excitement about Moore’s future progress and development. The young talent has shown promise and potential, with Maddison highlighting his strength and abilities as he continues to grow and evolve.

As Maddison gears up for a potential return to the England squad and continues to shine at Tottenham, all eyes will be on his performances on the pitch as he aims to make his mark both domestically and internationally.
