At just one year old, Thea underwent a crucial six-hour surgery known as a Hemispherectomy, where one half of her brain was removed to alleviate severe seizures. Now, at the age of three, Thea is undergoing private physiotherapy to help her lead as normal a life as possible.
The Too Good to Throw Market, set to take place at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility on October 12, has chosen Thea as their charity of the month. The market organisers aim to raise funds to support Thea’s ongoing physiotherapy sessions, which cost £100 each. The organisers highlighted Thea’s remarkable determination and progress, especially in learning to walk, despite the challenges she faces.
The market will feature 100 stalls offering pre-loved, new, and nearly new items, alongside various local businesses. The stalls will showcase a wide range of products including designer clothing, accessories, family clothing, toys, footwear, household goods, and more. The event provides an opportunity for families and individuals facing financial constraints to purchase items at affordable prices, with every penny from the charity collection going towards supporting Thea’s treatment.
The event will be open to the public from 11am to 2pm, with an entry fee of £1.50 for adults and free entry for under-16s accompanied by an adult.
