A public consultation has been initiated concerning the expansion plan for Additional Support Needs (ASN) in South Ayrshire. The proposal aims to convert two classrooms at Troon Primary School into a dedicated space for ASN learning. Currently, there are only three mainstream primary schools in South Ayrshire with ASN bases, none of which are located north of Ayr. South Ayrshire Council is looking to enhance service provision in this aspect, potentially eliminating the need for lengthy taxi journeys for ASN pupils residing in and around Troon while alleviating pressure on existing facilities.
Families of all children attending Troon Primary School have already been briefed on the proposals. This consultation provides an opportunity for the broader community, including parents and carers expecting a child to join the school within the next two years, to contribute their input. South Ayrshire Council is encouraging individuals with current links to the school to participate and share their feedback on the plan.
