**Heartbreak as Welsh Mother and Baby Lose Lives in Nigeria**

A tragic story has emerged from Nigeria, where a Welsh mother, Claire Chadwick, and her unborn baby have died unexpectedly due to medical complications. Claire, aged 40, and originally from Cardiff, had relocated to Nigeria with her husband, seeking new opportunities and experiences during her pregnancy.

Claire, who was celebrated for her vibrant spirit and engaging personality, regularly shared glimpses of her life on social media platforms like TikTok, where she showcased her experiences of living abroad alongside her husband. Her infectious love for dancing and relatable content earned her a loyal following, resonating with many who appreciated her authenticity.

Devastatingly, at 37 weeks pregnant, Claire suffered severe medical complications. After the heartbreaking news that her unborn baby had died in the womb, she developed sepsis which advanced into septic shock, leading to her untimely death. The family is now grappling with the emotional pain of this double loss, as they attempt to bring both Claire and her baby back to Wales for a dignified farewell.

Her sister, Shannon Chadwick, who resides in Newport, expressed her deep sorrow and recounted fond memories of her sister, describing her as someone who exuded a “huge personality”. “Claire was funny, loved dancing and was unapologetically herself,” said Shannon, adding that she possessed a legendary strength of character, always standing up for her beliefs and values.

In response to their overwhelming grief, the family has set up a fundraising page, which has reached £10,000, aimed at facilitating the return of Claire and her baby. “We want them both returned to us, so we can lay them to rest surrounded by our family,” Shannon stated poignantly.

Additionally, Claire is survived by her 19-year-old son, who is navigating this profound loss alongside her husband and extended family. The family expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received, particularly from a Welsh charity, REST, which provides assistance to families who have lost loved ones overseas in tragic circumstances.

A spokesperson from the Foreign Office has confirmed that they are providing support to the Chadwick family during this incredibly difficult time, shedding light on the far-reaching consequences of such a heartbreaking event.

The community’s response to the family’s plight has been tremendous, demonstrating the compassion and interconnectedness that often emerges during times of tragedy. Claire Chadwick will be remembered fondly by many, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
