Man allegedly ‘killed soulmate and her guinea pigs before storing dismembered body in freezer’

**Man Accused of Murdering Soulmate and Storing Her Remains in Freezer**

A man has been charged in connection with the alleged murder of his companion, Delia McInerney, whose dismembered remains were reportedly found in a freezer, alongside her pet guinea pigs. George Gordon, aged 65, is facing serious charges in relation to Ms McInerney’s death, which is believed to have occurred just days before her planned relocation to Portugal.

The shocking details unfolded during a recent hearing at Liverpool Crown Court, where it was revealed that Gordon allegedly killed McInerney, 62, in April 2023, shortly before she was due to begin a new chapter in her life abroad. The court heard that her remains were discovered on January 8 of this year, enclosed in a chest freezer located at Gordon’s flat in St Helens, Merseyside.

Prosecuting barrister, Martin Reid KC, explained that after McInerney’s death, Gordon impersonated her in communications with her friends, all while executing a series of fraudulent activities. He reportedly obtained credit cards and loans in her name, pocketing thousands from her bank accounts. Reid stated, “Unbeknown to them, but known very well to the defendant, Delia McInerney had died in April 2023, at the defendant’s hands.”

According to the allegations, Gordon initially claimed to police that he struck McInerney with a hammer to “end her suffering” following an overdose. He has since shifted his defence to self-defence, but the circumstances surrounding her demise are grim. Notably, Ms McInerney had expressed concerns over 5G phone masts near her home and had been preparing to relocate with her five beloved guinea pigs.

The prosecution alleged that in the days leading up to her death, Gordon purchased a sledgehammer and handsaw, tools later linked to her murder. Moreover, the court noted that the guinea pigs met a tragic fate, having been found deceased under suspicious circumstances.

The day after her death, over £2,000 was transferred from McInerney’s accounts to Gordon’s, highlighting the alarming extent of his alleged deceit. On April 12, just hours after her death, he even ordered a chest freezer online. The timeline suggests a calculated plan to conceal his actions.

Gordon is accused of not only murder but also of causing unnecessary suffering to animals. He denies both charges but has been embroiled in a “web of lies,” which began to unravel following a report to the Department of Work and Pensions that referenced Ms McInerney’s independence payment.

As this distressing case continues to unfold, it raises profound questions about the nature of trust and betrayal within intimate relationships. The court proceedings are expected to be lengthy, with the prosecution determined to shed light on the tragic events that transpired in the final days of McInerney’s life.

In a world where relationships can often become complicated, the case serves as a chilling reminder of the darker undercurrents that can lie beneath the surface. The community is left to grapple with the implications of this horrifying narrative, as they await justice for McInerney and her innocent pets.
