**Man Hospitalised Following Serious Incident at Scottish Water Construction Site in Montrose**

A significant incident occurred at a Scottish Water construction site in Montrose, Angus, leaving a 49-year-old man seriously injured. Emergency services were dispatched to Borrowfield Park shortly after 8:25 am on Wednesday, 5 November 2026, following reports of the accident. Police, paramedics, and firefighters responded promptly to the scene to provide assistance.

Upon arrival, first responders found the man with serious injuries and quickly transported him to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for urgent medical treatment. As of now, his condition remains unclear, and the details surrounding the events that led to this unfortunate incident are still being investigated.

In light of the incident, operations at the Borrowfield Park site have been temporarily suspended. The project, initiated in August, aims to upgrade the local waste and water networks in a bid to prevent sewer flooding and mitigate flooding issues throughout the community. Such infrastructure improvements are crucial for safeguarding both the residents and the local environment.

Scottish Water commented on the situation, stating, “We have been informed of an incident that occurred today on a contractor’s site. Work on the site has been temporarily paused while an investigation is carried out. We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities and contractors involved.” The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has also been notified and is currently conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that a report of the injury was received around 9:25 am on the same day, emphasising that they are working closely with emergency services and will refer the matter to the HSE as part of the investigative process.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential hazards associated with construction work, particularly in projects that seek to enhance community resilience against environmental challenges. As investigations continue, the hope remains for a swift recovery for the injured worker and for measures to be taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

This unfortunate event highlights not only the risks inherent in construction work but also the importance of prioritising safety protocols to protect all workers involved in such critical projects.
