Paedophile who secretly filmed teen naked unmasked as SFA referee

**Referee Uncovered as Paedophile After Secretly Filming Teenager**

In a shocking revelation, Ian Hart, a Scottish Football Association (SFA) referee, has been exposed as a paedophile after secretly filming a teenage girl. The 37-year-old from Glasgow pleaded guilty to taking indecent images of children during a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court, where he is set for sentencing on November 6.

Hart, who held a Category 3 referee status, was involved in officiating numerous matches in the Scottish Championship, including those featuring well-known teams like Partick Thistle, Dundee, and Ayr United. His disgraceful actions occurred between December 2024 and June 2025, during which time he preyed on a young girl aged between 13 and 14 in a property located in South Lanarkshire.

The court heard disturbing accounts of his behaviour. A female witness, who had previously discovered Hart with inappropriate photos of unidentified women, caught him peering into the wardrobe of a teenage girl while he was viewing a property in 2025. When police investigated further, they found explicit images of the young girl changing in her bedroom on Hart’s phone—photographs taken without her consent.

Subsequent police actions in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, led to Hart’s arrest at his workplace. A search of his home revealed a collection of electronic devices harbouring nine illicit images, alongside voyeuristic photos of a female witness taken unbeknownst to her. Hart faced multiple charges, including voyeurism and taking indecent images of children, and has been registered as a sex offender.

In light of these despicable actions, the SFA swiftly removed Hart from all officiating duties upon being notified of the allegations on October 24, emphasizing their zero-tolerance policy towards such behaviour. A spokesperson for the SFA affirmed that Hart would remain de-listed and never be eligible to referee again.

As the story unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance against abuse within any sporting environment. Such incidents highlight a critical need for rigorous background checks and immediate action in safeguarding minors.

This appalling case not only tarnishes the reputation of sports officiating but also underscores the grave responsibility society holds in protecting its vulnerable members, especially children. The ramifications of Hart’s actions will undoubtedly resonate within both the sports community and the broader society for years to come as we collectively strive to ensure safety and integrity in all realms of life.
