Frontier Airlines flight catches fire on landing at Las Vegas airport

A Frontier Airlines flight experienced a terrifying incident as it caught fire during an emergency landing at Nevada airport. The ordeal unfolded after the cabin crew reported smoke in the cockpit and urgently sought assistance. Flight 1326 was en route from San Diego to Las Vegas when it made a dramatic touchdown on Saturday, enveloped in a cloud of smoke.

Eyewitness Tyler Herrick captured the harrowing scene on video and shared it on social media, showing the Airbus A321 engulfed in flames before coming to a stop on the tarmac. Prompt action by fire engines at the scene managed to extinguish a blaze in the right engine before all 197 passengers and crew were safely evacuated using the stairs and then bussed to the terminal.

In the aftermath of the incident, departures from Harry Reid International Airport were briefly halted due to the disabled aircraft on the runway. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among those on board. Both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the cause of the incident to prevent future occurrences.

Frontier Airlines issued a statement on Twitter, stating, “As Flight 1326 from San Diego to Las Vegas was landing at LAS, the pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency. The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew were evacuated without any reported injuries. The cause of the incident is under investigation.”

This event serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers involved in air travel, with safety always remaining a top priority for airlines and aviation authorities. In a separate incident, a plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a live mouse was discovered in an in-flight meal. The Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) flight had to divert to Copenhagen as a precautionary measure.

As investigations into both incidents continue, passengers are reminded to remain vigilant while flying and to adhere to safety protocols implemented by airlines and regulatory bodies. Stay tuned for further updates on air travel incidents and ensure your own safety and well-being while in transit.
