A man who lost an incredible 12 stone has shared his inspirational journey and the unique way he reminds himself not to go back to his old habits. Martin Bryan, 36, from Glasgow, Scotland, began his weight loss transformation after years of struggling with his weight and emotional eating.
Martin’s weight issues began at a young age when he turned to food as a coping mechanism for bullying. His unhealthy eating habits only worsened after he lost his mum at the age of 20, leading him to overeat to cope with his grief. By the time he was 29, Martin weighed over 27 stone and was told he was pre-diabetic.
Determined to turn his life around, Martin joined a local weight loss group and managed to shed an impressive 12 stone in just 10 months. He continued to maintain his weight loss, eventually becoming a weight loss coach to help others on their journey.
To remind himself of how far he’s come, Martin keeps a life-sized cardboard cutout of his former 27-stone self. The visual reminder serves as motivation for him to stay on track and not revert to his old destructive habits.
Despite facing challenges and setbacks, such as excess skin and dental issues resulting from his weight loss, Martin remains committed to his health and fitness routine. He exercises six times a week and follows a healthy meal plan to sustain his new lifestyle.
Martin’s story serves as a testament to the power of determination and resilience in overcoming obstacles. His journey from a secret eater to a weight loss coach is an inspiration to many struggling with similar issues. By staying focused and dedicated, Martin has transformed not only his body but also his mindset, proving that change is possible with the right mindset and support.
