The Perth UHI graduation ceremony took place at the Perth Concert Hall, where over 300 graduates and award winners were celebrated for their achievements. The event honoured students who received degrees, diplomas, certificates, and awards. Dr Margaret Cook, UHI Perth Principal, expressed the significance of the ceremony, stating that it marks the end of a chapter in the students’ lives and prepares them for their future endeavours. She thanked the staff for their hard work in making the students’ time at UHI fulfilling and highlighted the invaluable friendships formed during their studies.
One notable award recipient was Gregor George, who was named UHI Perth Alumnus of the Year. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Gregor successfully completed the Perth City Remembering Together Memorial Project, creating meaningful 3D sculptures as a collective memory of the Covid-19 impact. Catherine Etri, former Vice Principal, Academic at UHI Perth, received the Vice Chancellor’s Award for her significant contributions to the institution over three decades, focusing on enhancing learning and teaching experiences.
The ceremony included the presentation of UHI Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates, SQA Certificates, and Diplomas, as well as Awards for Individual Achievement. Mr Graham Watson, Chair of the Board of Management, UHI Perth, delivered the closing address, while alumnus Erica Lo Presti offered a Student Vote of Thanks. Erica, who won The Institute of Engineering and Technology Award Winner, was also named the University of the Highlands and Islands ‘Student of the Year Award for UHI Perth’.
The event concluded with heartfelt messages from award recipients, encouraging staff to continue inspiring students and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. The ceremony showcased the dedication and achievements of the graduating students, leaving a lasting impact on the UHI Perth community.
