A man from Cambuslang has been left scarred for life after an altercation at M&D’s Theme Park over a spilled drink escalated into violence. Connor Orr, 32, admitted to assaulting the victim with a piece of glass, causing severe injury and permanent disfigurement during the incident on March 17 last year. Hamilton Sheriff Court was informed that trouble erupted while the victim and his friends were playing pool, leading to a confrontation with Orr and his group. Security had to intervene, and Orr’s group was asked to leave the premises. Shortly after, as the victim and his friends were standing at the exit, Orr approached them with a piece of glass in hand and struck the victim twice on the head.
The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital where he received nine stitches to close a wound behind his ear. Despite the severity of the assault, Orr, who works as a warehouse worker and has no prior criminal record, has not been in trouble since the incident occurred 18 months ago, as stated by his defence lawyer, Chris Devine. Sheriff Liam Murphy deferred sentencing for Orr until the next month to allow for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment. However, he cautioned Orr that all sentencing options, including custody, remain on the table.
