A tragic incident unfolded as a teenager was found shot dead in his car on a busy freeway in Texas. Cody Johnson, aged 19, set off to pick up his girlfriend from work but never made it to his destination. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the young man was killed on Friday night while driving along the Katy Freeway near Highway 99 in Katy, Texas.
Officers responded to reports of a 2011 Black Camaro with gold rims seen rolling down the busy road. Upon arrival at the scene around 8 pm, they found Johnson unresponsive from apparent gunshot wounds. The teenager was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that Johnson’s death is being investigated as a potential road rage attack, with no suspects identified at this time. Family members revealed that Johnson was on his way to see his girlfriend when the tragic incident occurred. His father expressed a plea for justice, emphasizing the need for answers and accountability in the face of such a senseless act of violence.
Johnson’s mother emotionally appealed for information, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. Described as a young man passionate about motorcycles and cars, Johnson had recently recovered from a serious motorcycle accident and was on the brink of starting a new job.
Having graduated from Ridge Point High School earlier in the year, Johnson was looking forward to embarking on this new chapter in his life. As the community mourns the loss of this promising young individual, authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
