Family Raises Amazing £11,000 to Bring Seriously Ill Dad Back Home from Turkish Hospital
The family of Bob Carrick, from Cowie, Stirling, has achieved an incredible milestone by raising over £11,000 towards the urgent effort to bring him back from a hospital in Turkey. Bob Carrick, described as ‘one of life’s good guys,’ fell ill while abroad on Saturday, September 21, and underwent surgery in a Turkish hospital. However, he faced additional complications following the operation.
Bob’s family has already spent a substantial £26,000 dealing with insurance matters and healthcare costs. Their current goal is to fund a private medical flight costing £45,000 to transport the 50-year-old back to Scotland for further treatment. Bob’s sister-in-law, Christine Young, launched an online fundraiser to gather the necessary funds for his return.
The fundraiser has so far raised £11,000 towards the required amount. Expressing gratitude for the donations received, Christine shared an update on the fundraiser page, stating their revised target of £45,000 to cover the expenses of the medical flight. She appealed for continued support and donations to help bring Bob safely back home.
Christine acknowledged that the decision to seek financial help was a difficult one for Bob’s proud family, but given the circumstances, they have no choice but to seek assistance. With the financial burden already incurred, they are left with no option but to arrange the medical flight themselves. Every contribution and share of the fundraiser brings them closer to their goal of securing Bob’s necessary medical care.
