Ferrari Boss Unveils 2025 F1 Car Strategy in Anticipation of Lewis Hamilton’s Move
The Ferrari team principal, Fred Vasseur, has outlined the plan for their 2025 Formula 1 car as they prepare for Lewis Hamilton’s arrival. Hamilton, set to depart Mercedes at the end of the season after a successful 12-year stint, will join Charles Leclerc at the Scuderia.
Vasseur confirmed that development on this year’s car will halt after the upcoming F1 race in Austin, with key personnel commencing their roles at Ferrari in anticipation of Hamilton’s imminent switch. The British driver, a six-time F1 world champion with Mercedes, seeks to secure an eighth title with Ferrari.
The 2025 car, dubbed as project 677, is already in the works, with a focus on suspension changes tailored to suit Hamilton’s driving style. Vasseur, who had previous experience working with Hamilton in junior formulas, expressed the team’s commitment to pushing for small upgrades in the upcoming races to stay competitive.
Despite trailing McLaren by 75 points in the constructors’ standings, Ferrari remains optimistic about their chances, especially with Leclerc currently 34 points behind Lando Norris in the drivers’ championship. In other developments, former Mercedes staff members, Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio, have transitioned to Ferrari. Serra will lead a technical team at Maranello as the chassis technical director, while d’Ambrosio will oversee young driver development at the Ferrari Driver Academy.
With the United States Grand Prix in Austin marking the return of F1 after a brief hiatus, all eyes are on Ferrari’s preparations for the future under the leadership of Vasseur and the impending partnership between Hamilton and Leclerc.
