A thug who terrorised a street in Stirling, Scotland, while wearing an SS swastika flag and wielding a chainsaw has been sentenced to three years in jail. Cameron Hotchkiss, 22, was also found to have posted disturbing videos of himself mixing chemicals and threatening to create a napalm flamethrower as part of a feud with another family. The incident involving the chainsaw took place around 11.20 pm in June last year in Stirling’s Cornton area. It was reported that Hotchkiss, his father, and a friend had gone to confront four men over a drug debt issue when the chainsaw incident occurred.
During the confrontation, Hotchkiss was seen waving the chainsaw and wearing an SS flag with emblems and a swastika on it, causing alarm among onlookers who called the police. Subsequently, Hotchkiss was apprehended by the police in a black Toyota Avensis, where the chainsaw and Nazi flag were found in the vehicle. In court, Hotchkiss pleaded guilty to charges of common law and statutory breach of the peace. His defence lawyer stated that Hotchkiss had used the chainsaw to defend himself and his father during an altercation where they were attacked.
Further revealing Hotchkiss’s alarming behaviour, it was disclosed that he had posted threatening videos on Snapchat, discussing making chemical weapons and indicating plans to create a napalm flamethrower. These videos, part of an ongoing feud with another family, raised concerns over the potential harm Hotchkiss posed. Consequently, the court sentenced Hotchkiss to three years in prison, with an additional 12-month social work supervision upon release to mitigate the risk he posed to the public. The sheriff condemned Hotchkiss’s actions, particularly the reckless use of a chainsaw in a public place.
The prosecutor highlighted the petrifying nature of Hotchkiss’s videos, depicting dangerous experiments with chemicals and threatening behaviour. The court was shown footage of Hotchkiss mixing petrol and polystyrene to create a substance labelled “Napalm,” as well as videos of others using a flamethrower resulting in fires. The criminal justice report on Hotchkiss underscored his high risk of reoffending and potential for causing harm, prompting the sheriff to impose a lengthy prison sentence and post-release supervision. The judge stressed the severity of Hotchkiss’s actions and the need to protect the public from such dangerous behaviour.
