Homeless Scot sleeping in Asda car park rehoused after kind-hearted worker helps out

A compassionate act by Caroline McGeoch, a Security Section Leader at Asda Barrhead, led to the heartwarming rehousing of a homeless father who had been sleeping in the supermarket’s car park. Caroline first encountered the young man during her store patrol when she noticed him in the underground parking area. Concerned for his safety due to the inclement weather overnight, Caroline brought him inside, called an ambulance, and provided him with food and warmth while they waited.

The homeless father, who revealed he had a job and a daughter but was unable to afford housing, shared his struggles with Caroline. Despite having a support worker trying to secure accommodation for him, the situation had not progressed. Caroline took it upon herself to ensure he wouldn’t be put back on the streets, especially considering his precarious health condition. The paramedics who arrived confirmed the seriousness of the young man’s condition and, through Caroline’s intervention, he was made a priority case and successfully rehoused in Glasgow.

Caroline’s kindness didn’t end there; she also provided the man with groceries, essentials, and funds for his journey to his new home. The homeless father expressed his gratitude by texting Caroline upon his safe arrival. The following day, he called the Asda Barrhead store to extend his thanks to Caroline for her exceptional care and concern. Amanda Green, the General Store Manager, commended Caroline for her selfless actions, emphasising the positive impact she had made on the man’s life.

The heartwarming story exemplifies the power of a compassionate gesture in transforming lives. Caroline’s initiative not only ensured the immediate safety and well-being of the homeless father but also facilitated a long-term solution to his housing predicament. Such acts of kindness and empathy serve as a reminder of the profound impact individuals can have on those in need within their communities.
