Bobby and Liz MacRae, a couple from Dumfries, recently celebrated a significant milestone as they marked 60 years of marriage surrounded by their loving family. The diamond wedding couple, known as Bobby and Liz, reflected on their six decades together with joy and a deep sense of commitment.
Bobby, 83, and Liz, 81, have a remarkable story that spans from their early years to their enduring marriage. Bobby, who was born during WWII in Dumbarton, and Liz, who moved from Aberdeenshire to Dumfries at a young age, have cherished their journey together through thick and thin.
The couple’s love story includes Bobby’s initiation into the printing world in Dumfries, which eventually led to him working for various newspapers before retiring in 2006. Liz, on the other hand, worked as a cashier clerk before their paths crossed in a fateful encounter in Dumfries, leading to their engagement and subsequent marriage in 1964.
Their wedding day, celebrated at Kirkmichael Church in Parkgate, marked the beginning of a family life that included raising four children and doting on eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Over the years, their bond has remained strong despite challenges and separations due to work relocations.
As they commemorated their 60th anniversary, Bobby and Liz were surrounded by their close-knit family for a heartfelt celebration at their home followed by a special meal at the Nith Hotel. Their enduring love and commitment serve as a true inspiration to all those who know them, symbolising the beauty of a lifetime spent together in love and harmony.
