In Thailand, a heartwarming tale has emerged about a stray dog named Snickers who has captured the hearts of many for her unique way of showing gratitude to a man who feeds her daily. Niall Harbison, who feeds around 80 street dogs each morning, shared the story of Snickers on social media. He revealed that while all the dogs are appreciative, Snickers stands out by bringing him gifts every day without fail.
Snickers, along with her furry friends Mars Bar, Milky Way, Rolo, and Bumper, surprises Harbison with various gifts each time he arrives with food. The gifts range from ramen noodles to shoes, toys, and even coconuts. Moreover, Snickers also contributes to cleaning up the environment by bringing litter like food wrappers and water bottles, which Harbison then recycles.
Harbison expressed that Snickers puts careful thought into her daily gifts, with a mix of practical items and whimsical tokens. He joked that Snickers might be hinting at his need for sturdier shoes than his flip flops, given the frequent footwear gifts. Despite the variety in gifts, what stands out the most is Snickers’ proud and enthusiastic manner of presenting each item.
Grateful for Snickers’ kindness, Harbison, who aims to save 10,000 dogs a month, advocates for donations to Happy Doggo, a charity he established in 2021. Following a challenging period of substance abuse, Harbison turned to feeding, vaccinating, and sterilising street dogs to address the issue in the long term. The charity project has since evolved to include a sanctuary for sick street dogs to recuperate.
