Dumfriesshire’s intrepid Alasdair sky dives 15000ft to raise funds

Fearless Alasdair Rankin, the managing director of Aitken Turnbull Architects in Dumfries, has taken on a daring challenge by completing a tandem skydive to raise funds for Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH). The initiative was suggested by his colleagues at the firm and Alasdair embraced the opportunity to support SAMH, the chosen charity partner. Soaring 15,000 ft above the ground, Alasdair descended from a twin-engine aircraft over Peterlee Airfield in Co Durham.

Alasdair’s courageous skydive not only pushed him out of his comfort zone but also exceeded his fundraising target of £1,500, with contributions still pouring in and nearing £2,000. Expressing gratitude towards his colleagues for the inspiring idea and the team at Sky-High Sky Diving for their support, Alasdair also thanked everyone who sponsored him for this worthy cause. Aitken Turnbull Architects’ charitable efforts have been commendable this year, raising almost £7,000 for SAMH through various activities such as the Edinburgh Marathon Relay and fundraising at Kelso Races.

The fundraising tandem skydive not only showcased Alasdair’s adventurous spirit but also highlighted the firm’s commitment to supporting mental health initiatives in the community. SAMH, as the recipient of the funds raised, plays a vital role in transforming lives and supporting mental health awareness in Scotland. Alasdair’s initiative serves as an inspiring example of individuals and organisations coming together to make a positive impact on mental health support services.

In a world where mental health awareness and support are crucial, initiatives like Alasdair’s skydive not only raise funds but also spark conversations and encourage solidarity in tackling mental health challenges. By stepping out of his comfort zone and taking on this exhilarating challenge, Alasdair has set a commendable example of using one’s passions and courage to make a difference in the lives of others. His dedication to the cause and the overwhelming support from the community demonstrate the power of collective action in promoting mental well-being and resilience.
