‘Modern-day Moses’ behind massive church scam accused of rebranding as a ‘life coach’ to run Ponzi scheme

## Fraudster Accused of Rebranding as ‘Life Coach’ to Run Ponzi Scheme

A fraudulent individual behind a significant church scam has been accused of rebranding himself as a ‘life coach’ to operate a Ponzi scheme, according to The Independent.

The con artist, Lindani Mangena, who was nicknamed a ‘modern-day Moses’, was previously convicted and sentenced to seven years in a UK prison for defrauding over $4 million from around 1,000 churchgoers from Seventh Day Adventist congregations in London. Despite promising exorbitant returns of up to 3,000 percent, Mangena’s victims lost their investments, while he indulged in lavish expenses on luxury cars, expensive properties, and extravagant trips to Dubai.

Upon his release from prison, Mangena allegedly resurfaced under the new alias ‘Daniel Mangena,’ and is now believed to be orchestrating a Ponzi scheme in the United States. A lawsuit filed in New York State Supreme Court by real estate brokers Paul Gavriani and Vince Falcone accuses Mangena of embezzling nearly $1 million from them and an undisclosed number of other unsuspecting individuals who were unaware of his criminal background.

Moreover, court documents reveal a series of claims of non-payment against Mangena in New York, culminating in a federal judge’s ruling against him in a case involving a woman from New Jersey who alleged she was swindled out of a six-figure sum and manipulated into believing the losses were her fault.

In response to the allegations, Mangena denied operating a Ponzi scheme, claiming that the funds he received were intended as loans and that he plans to reimburse them once he regains financial stability. He shifted blame onto Gavriani, Falcone, and others, accusing them of triggering his financial predicament.

Despite Mangena’s attempts to refute the accusations, evidence suggests a pattern of deceit and manipulation in his dealings with investors, such as promising substantial returns and offering dubious investment opportunities that ultimately led to financial losses for the victims.

Amid mounting legal challenges and accusations of fraudulent activities, Mangena’s reputation as a purported ‘life coach’ has come under intense scrutiny, raising concerns about his continued operation and potential impact on unsuspecting individuals seeking financial guidance and support.

As the legal battle unfolds in the courts, the victims of Mangena’s alleged Ponzi scheme are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, aiming to hold the fraudster accountable for his actions and the financial losses incurred by those entrapped in his deceptive schemes.

Mangena’s case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals engaging in fraudulent activities under false pretenses, highlighting the importance of carrying out thorough background checks and due diligence before entering into any financial agreements or investment arrangements.

Overall, the unfolding saga surrounding Mangena underscores the critical need for vigilance and caution when engaging with individuals offering financial services or investment opportunities, particularly those with a history of fraudulent behaviour or dubious practices.
