Fans of the Alien franchise can now immerse themselves in the terror-filled universe of Xenomorphs with the digital release of Alien: Romulus. Directed by Fede Álvarez, the ninth film in the 45-year franchise takes Alien back to its horror roots, set between Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979) and James Cameron’s Aliens (1986). Cailee Spaeny, the lead star of Romulus, described the film at the Gotham Awards in Los Angeles.
Alien: Romulus was released on digital platforms on 15th October and will also be available on Blu-Ray and VHS this December, marking the first major Hollywood film to be released on VHS since 2006. With five mainline films, two prequels, and two Alien vs Predator movies, fans have plenty to delve into from the comfort of their own homes.
While the first eight films are on Disney+, for Alien: Romulus, you can rent or buy the digital version on Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV. You can opt for a marathon viewing of the series in chronological order or based on the order of release.
Beginning with AVP Alien vs. Predator (2004) where Weyland funds an expedition to Antarctica, discovering the aliens, through to Aliens: Covenant (2017) where a colony ship faces a deadly lifeform on an uninhabited planet, fans can catch the entire Alien saga.
For those preferring release order, the sequence starts with Alien (1979) where the Nostromo space crew encounters alien eggs, leading to a battle for survival. This is followed by Aliens (1986) where Ripley faces off against evolved aliens with a new crew.
