East Kilbride bright spark crowned SJIB Apprentice of the Year
Electrician Scott Ahern from East Kilbride has been named the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB) Apprentice of the Year for his outstanding commitment and dedication. The talented apprentice stood out among a pool of emerging electrical talent to clinch the prestigious 2024 award. Scott’s remarkable enthusiasm impressed the judges at the event held in collaboration with Edmundson Electrical, leading him to secure the trophy. In a ceremony at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood, SJIB chair Jock Simpson presented Scott, 27, with a £1000 voucher. Central Scotland MSP Monica Lennon graced the occasion as the guest speaker.
Working for DRB UK Maintenance Ltd in Hamilton, Scott completed his training at New College Lanarkshire’s Motherwell Campus under the guidance of Gordon Penman from the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT). Reflecting on his achievement, Scott expressed his gratitude for the support he received throughout his apprenticeship journey.
