The 35-year-old musician, who was linked to Swift in 2023 after her breakup with Joe Alwyn, discussed this on Joshua Citarella’s Doomscroll Podcast. Healy expressed his disinterest in writing about his casual romantic encounters which have garnered attention due to his fame. He stated, “If I made a record about, I don’t know, all the stuff that was said about me, or my casual romantic liaisons, or my, whatever it may be, that I’ve kind of become known for, just because I was famous. I think that’s an obvious thing to draw from. I’m just not interested in it.” He went on to mention his resistance to conforming to the status quo in his music.
Exploring the idea of creating music based on past personal experiences, Healy mentioned that by the time such songs are released, the events may have become outdated. He expressed his belief that this approach lacks interest and shared his artistic philosophy of producing music that stimulates thought and potentially introduces academic concepts to a wider audience. Swift’s recent album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, is believed to contain references to her past relationships with Alwyn and Healy, as well as her current partner, NFL player Travis Kelce. Fans have speculated that the track ‘Fortnight’ featuring Post Malone alludes to her brief relationship with Healy.
Although Swift does not directly name Healy in her songs, various tracks seem to hint at their connection. Healy, known for hits like Girls and Chocolate, is currently in a relationship with model Gabbriette. Last May, he pleasantly surprised fans by joining indie artist Phoebe Bridgers onstage during Swift’s Eras tour stop in Nashville. Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding their past, Healy remains resolute in his decision not to address his romantic encounters with Swift through his music.
