A Scottish woman who abandoned a frightened nine-year-old boy in the woods and then falsely claimed the child was missing has avoided a jail sentence. Ashley McGovern, a 31-year-old drug addict, drove the boy to a dark woodland area near her home in East Lothian and left him there, triggering a massive search operation involving 80 police officers, the force helicopter, and mountain rescue and coastguard teams.
