TGI Fridays: Full list of UK restaurants shutting down and remaining open

TGI Fridays UK restaurants have experienced a mix of closures and remain open following a recent acquisition, as reported by The Independent. The popular chain faced financial distress leading to its collapse into administration. However, there is hope with 51 restaurants being acquired by new owners, Breal Capital and Calveton UK, who aim to revitalise the business that originated in New York in 1965.

Unfortunately, not all TGI Fridays locations were part of the sale, resulting in the immediate closure of 35 restaurants across the UK. This abrupt decision has led to over 1,000 job redundancies, impacting both staff and loyal customers of these establishments.

The list of TGI Fridays restaurants shutting down includes well-known locations such as Birmingham in the West Midlands, Brighton Marina in East Sussex, and Edinburgh Fort Kinnaird in Scotland, among others. Meanwhile, the TGI Fridays outlets that will continue to operate include venues like Bluewater shopping centre in Kent, Trafford Centre in Greater Manchester, and Meadowhall in South Yorkshire, ensuring that some locations remain accessible to patrons.

The closure of the 35 TGI Fridays restaurants serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by the hospitality industry, especially in times of economic uncertainty. The restructuring of the chain under new ownership signifies a fresh start and potential growth for the remaining establishments. Customers can still enjoy the signature TGI Fridays dining experience at the retained locations, providing some reassurance amidst the changes in the brand’s landscape.
