In West Lothian, a slip road on the busy stretch of the M8 will be closed for two nights. BEAR Scotland is set to carry out routine inspection works on the bridge that carries the A899 over the M8. The closure will happen on the nights of 16 and 17 October, from 8pm to 6am.
During the closure, a signed diversion will be in place for traffic looking to join the eastbound M8 at Junction 3 Livingston. Drivers will be directed to continue northbound on the A899 to Dechmont Roundabout, then take the A89 west to Boghall Roundabout, and finally the A779 to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 3A Starlaw Interchange. This diversion is estimated to add approximately 7 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.
BEAR Scotland has consulted with relevant stakeholders to inform them of the planned works in advance. David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, emphasized the importance of closing the slip road for the safety of both road users and workers during the inspection works. The works have been scheduled overnight to minimize disruption, and motorists are thanked in advance for their patience and understanding.
