Lanark Minister Meets King at Scottish Parliament 25th Anniversary
A Lanark minister had a special audience with the King at the Scottish Parliament’s 25th-anniversary celebration. Rev Bryan Kerry of Greyfriars Parish Church attended the event in recognition of his commendable community work, which led to him being nominated as the Clydesdale constituency’s “local hero” by Mairi McAllan MSP. Among the select few chosen to meet King Charles, Rev Kerr engaged in conversation with the monarch, reflecting on the historic visit King Charles had made to Lanark as the Prince of Wales before his accession two years ago.
Rev Kerr was one of 129 community stalwarts nominated by each elected member of the parliament to participate in the silver jubilee celebrations, acknowledging the valuable service they provide to their communities. He was nominated for his efforts in creating supportive spaces at the Bloomgate church during the cost of living crisis, his involvement with the Clydesdale Food Bank, and his support for detainees at the Dungavel detention centre.
