Chilling footage has surfaced showing a large police presence at a rural farm following the tragic death of a schoolboy who was shot in the head. The young boy sustained serious head and face injuries in a horrifying incident on a farm near Warcop, Cumbria, on Saturday afternoon. Despite being airlifted to the hospital, he tragically passed away overnight. Authorities have reported that the firearm involved has been confiscated by officers at the scene, and a man in his 60s has been detained on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter in connection with the incident.
In a newly released video clip from the scene, police vehicles can be seen lined up along a country road as they respond to the distressing situation. The Cumbria Constabulary stated, “Police are investigating following the death of an eight-year-old boy. Emergency services were called to a farm in the Warcop area after a report that a child had been seriously injured by a firearm on the property.” The spokesperson further added, “The firearm was secured by police at the scene, and an eight-year-old boy was airlifted to the hospital after sustaining serious and life-threatening injuries to his head and face. Sadly, the boy has passed away.”
At the site, a man in his 60s was initially arrested on suspicion of assault GBH and remains in police custody. However, he is now being held on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter. Eyewitnesses from the area recounted seeing a large number of officers and paramedics swiftly moving across a nearby field just off the A66 shortly after the shooting. One resident shared, “I saw the medical emergency helicopter in the small field. There’s a level field and then a field rising quite steeply up to where the solitary police car was. It must have just been called in. I think everything was happening at that time. Police had arrived on mass and medics were marching up the field with a purpose. I’ve since been told that the boy has passed away.”
