A knife thug who fatally stabbed a man outside his flat is now facing a potential life sentence. Alan Robertson was found guilty of murdering Allan Doris in Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire on February 13, 2023. The victim, a 33-year-old Celtic fan, was attacked by Robertson near his residence and tragically succumbed to his injuries despite efforts to save him.
During the trial at the High Court in Glasgow, it was revealed that Robertson, aged 43, had previous convictions for violent offenses and possessing offensive weapons, such as an axe. The court heard that Robertson claimed to be unaware of how Mr. Doris sustained his fatal injuries, but the jury found him guilty of murder. Following the verdict, prosecutor Chris MacIntosh detailed Robertson’s criminal history and informed the court that sentencing would take place next month.
The incident unfolded after both men, along with others, were in Robertson’s flat before a dispute led to Mr. Doris leaving the premises. Witnesses testified that an altercation ensued outside, during which Robertson fatally stabbed Mr. Doris in the heart. Despite denying any knowledge of the attack and insisting he was not angry that day, Robertson was described as visibly enraged before committing the crime.
As Mr. Doris lay injured, a friend attempted to summon help and an ambulance was called, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his wounds before medical assistance could save him. Robertson, now in custody awaiting sentencing, maintained his innocence during the trial but was unable to convince the jury of his version of events.
