A suspect in the Bristol suitcase murders case made an appearance at the Old Bailey. Yostin Andres Mosquera stands accused of the murders of Albert Alfonso, aged 62, and Paul Longworth, aged 71. The heinous crimes are reported to have taken place between July 8 and 10 in Hammersmith and Fulham, London, with the victims’ remains discovered in suitcases near Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The 34-year-old defendant, a Colombian national residing at Scotts Road in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh prison. During the court session, Mosquera, clad in a grey tracksuit, confirmed his identity with the aid of a Spanish interpreter and was not required to enter pleas at that time.
Trial judge Mr Justice Bennathan KC rescheduled the provisional trial date from April 14 next year to April 29 next year. A further plea and case management hearing is set for the week of November 25, as the defendant was remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.
