A drink-driver who ran red lights and crashed into parked cars while driving home from a nightclub over a taxi fare has been sentenced, according to newly-released footage. Declan Muers, 27, from Mapperley, Nottingham, was seen speeding through Nottingham city centre while over the legal limit. He failed to stop for the police during the incident in February.
Muers pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop when required by a police constable, and drink-driving. He was handed a 16-month suspended sentence for two years for his actions. Nottinghamshire Police commented that Muers should have opted for a taxi home instead of risking the dangerous drive, highlighting the consequences of his actions with the loss of his driver’s licence.
