A devastating fire engulfed a family’s Glasgow home within minutes, leaving them with nothing, including a newborn baby and young child. Emergency services rushed to the inferno at the property on Forge Street in Glasgow at 6.30 am on Wednesday, October 2nd.
Deborah Ameh, along with her husband, Possible Aguebor, and their two children, were left shocked and devastated by the fire. Deborah recounted her ordeal after being woken by the fire alarm, finding her living room in flames as she ensured the safety of her children. The family lost all their belongings, from furniture to sentimental items, in the blaze.
Deborah expressed gratitude that her family was safe despite the loss of their possessions. She described the rapid spread of the fire, which led to the destruction of their home. Following the incident, Deborah was treated for smoke inhalation at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and later released.
Shocking footage revealed the extent of the damage, with the living room gutted, walls and ceilings collapsed, and thick smoke covering the remaining structure. The family is temporarily staying in an Airbnb as they seek a new home. A fundraiser has been initiated by neighbours to support them during this challenging time.
The Scottish Ambulance Service transported one person to the hospital, while the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched four fire appliances to tackle the blaze. After ensuring the area’s safety, firefighters left the scene.
