Hollywood Star Leads Annual Sheep Drive Across Southwark Bridge
Hollywood actor Damian Lewis took part in the 11th annual Sheep Drive across London’s Southwark Bridge on 29th September. The renowned actor from “Homeland” and “Band of Brothers”, who is also a Freeman of the City of London, led over 1,000 people in herding sheep across the Thames. Lewis expressed his delight in participating in the unique tradition, where city Freemen are allowed to guide their sheep across the historic bridge without paying tolls.
Lewis shared his experience, saying, “I’m down here on this eccentric, very British day, honouring an old tradition where Freemen of the City of London can drive their sheep… toll-free, free of charge, across the bridge.” He added, “I just played shepherd Lewis, and it was very fun.”
