A Dalry resident is feeling fortunate after winning a charity prize draw in Dumfries and Galloway. Southwest RNR organised a raffle where participants had the opportunity to win £1,000 worth of fuel or goods from St Michael’s Services garages located in Dalry, Dumfries, Moffat, and Newton Stewart.
The winner of this draw was Linda Thomas from Dalry, who was presented with her prize by charity leader Robin Hood at Wright’s Shop in town. A total of 500 tickets were available for purchase at £5 each, with the funds raised going towards sponsoring a services veteran’s HGV training with Nithcree in Dumfries.
In a positive turn of events for Southwest RNR charity, The Veterans Foundation has pledged to cover Robin’s salary for the next three years. Robin expressed his gratitude, stating, “It means in all the time I’ve been involved, my salary has been paid by a third party. I haven’t taken a penny from the charity and all the public donations have gone to getting one woman and 81 men back into work.”
It is heartening to see the community coming together to support a worthy cause, and the success of this charity draw in Dalry serves as a shining example of generosity and goodwill in Dumfries and Galloway.
