Stephen Graham to star in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie
Stephen Graham has been confirmed to join the cast of Netflix’s upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, scheduled for release in 2025. The Line of Duty actor’s addition to the cast was officially announced, with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby alongside Irish actor Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Rebecca Ferguson.
Graham is part of the new lineup joining returning cast members such as Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee, and Ian Peck, who are all set to reprise their roles from the original BBC series. Rundle, known for her role as Shelby’s sister Ada, is expected to continue leading the family business following the events of season six in 2022.
Although Graham previously appeared as Hayden Stagg in the final season of Peaky Blinders, his role in the movie adaptation has not been disclosed yet. Speaking at the London Film Festival, Graham hinted at his involvement in the film and also shared details about playing Bruce Springsteen’s father in the biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere.
The untitled movie, penned by series creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper, is a highly anticipated continuation of the Peaky Blinders saga. Murphy expressed his excitement about reprising his role as Tommy Shelby, stating, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”
Knight had previously confirmed Murphy’s return in March, revealing plans to shoot the movie in September. Additionally, Knight hinted that the movie’s storyline would be set against the backdrop of World War II.
Apart from his involvement in the Peaky Blinders movie, Graham has garnered acclaim for his physical transformation in the upcoming boxing drama series A Thousand Blows, also created by Knight. Set in the illegal boxing world of Victorian London in the 1880s, the series stars Malachi Kirby as a boxer facing off against Graham’s character, Sugar Goodson, a formidable bare-knuckle fighter.
