Yung Filly music projects shelved as rapper appears in court on rape charges

Yung Filly’s music projects have been put on hold by his record label after the rapper and YouTube star was charged with rape and assault in Australia. Warner Records has decided to shelve all of his planned future releases following his arrest in Perth. The artist, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court and faced charges including assault occasioning bodily harm, sexual penetration without consent, and impeding another person’s breathing by applying pressure to the neck.

It has been revealed that Yung Filly, 29, signed with Warner Records in 2021 and has since released several singles through the label, such as the collaboration “Grey” with Manchester rapper Aitch. The track had over 63 million streams on Spotify and reached No. 35 on the UK Official Singles Chart. Additionally, his other tracks like “Tempted” and “100 Bags Freestyle” have garnered millions of streams on Spotify.

Yung Filly, originally from Colombia but raised in London, has worked with various artists in the music industry and transitioned into television and film production. He has hosted BBC shows like Yung Filly’s Celeb Lock-in and Hot Property, and even appeared as a contestant on Channel 4’s The Great Celebrity Bake Off in 2022.

The alleged assault incident involving a woman in her twenties reportedly occurred in a Perth hotel room after a nightclub performance on 27 September. Yung Filly was arrested in Brisbane and later extradited to Perth. He was granted bail under strict conditions and is required to pay a personal undertaking of 100,000 Australian dollars (£52,000) along with a surety of the same amount. The next court hearing for this case is scheduled for December 19 at 9.30am in Perth Magistrates Court.

Authorities in Western Australia have stated that the investigation is ongoing, and they encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward.
