Coleen Rooney is set to make a television comeback by appearing on the popular show, I’m a Celebrity, reportedly for a significant fee. The WAG and former TV personality is expected to spill the beans after signing up for ITV’s flagship celebrity programme. While ITV is known to pay hefty sums for top names like Caitlyn Jenner and Nigel Farage, reports suggest that Coleen’s fee will be exceptionally high.
Bosses are keen for Coleen, aged 38, to share insights about her husband, former Manchester United and Everton star Wayne Rooney, as well as the well-known Wagatha Christie drama involving Rebekah Vardy. Coleen, who hails from Liverpool, is set to travel to Australia next month to take part in the famous Bushtucker Trials, where she will compete to earn stars to feed her fellow campmates, according to the Mirror.
A source revealed to The Sun on Sunday: “I’m A Celeb bosses have pulled off a huge coup getting Coleen for the jungle this year, and the team are thrilled to have her on board. Coleen has a massive fanbase, and she won huge plaudits for her classy handling of the Wagatha Christie case. She’s excited to show fans a different side to her and prove she can survive without her creature comforts.”
Rebekah Vardy, the wife of Jamie Vardy, previously took part in the show in 2017, where she was eliminated as the third campmate and sent back home. During her time on the show, Rebekah was involved in a bullying controversy with Amir Khan and Jamie Lomas, who were accused of targeting Iain Lee. After her exit, Rebekah expressed her relief at leaving the challenging environment of the show and highlighted the importance of supporting one another.
Recent spotlight on Coleen includes the release of her Disney Plus documentary, The Real Wagatha Story, where she and her husband Wayne openly addressed the scandal for the first time. Coleen has also been featured in Vogue and penned a book titled, ‘My Account’.
Reports suggest that other potential participants for this year’s I’m a Celebrity series include Jane Moore from Loose Women, Mick McCarthy, former Republic of Ireland manager and captain, and Harry Clark from Traitors. Discussions are reportedly ongoing with retired gymnast Max Whitlock and former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos for their potential involvement in the show.
Stay tuned for the latest updates on who will be braving the Bushtucker Trials and captivating audiences on I’m a Celebrity.
