A Lanarkshire garden centre is set to dazzle visitors with a magical array of festive experiences this Christmas. Dobbies Garden Centres in South Lanarkshire will be offering a host of attractions for families to enjoy, including their beloved grotto which has been revamped with a fresh new look. Santa will be making an appearance at the new Little Seedlings train-themed grotto at the Sandyholm store in the Clyde Valley, bringing the spirit of Christmas to families in the area.
At the grotto, children will be greeted by Santa’s elves at Sleighbell Station before embarking on a journey through snowy scenes, spotting woodland characters, finding hidden nutcrackers, and finally having the chance to share their Christmas wishes with Santa himself. Families can capture this special moment with a photograph, creating a lasting memory of the experience.
In addition to the traditional grotto experience, Dobbies will also be offering a sensory-friendly Quiet Grotto experience on December 6 at the Sandyholm store. This specially designed experience aims to reduce anxiety for children with additional needs by minimizing lighting, sound, and visual effects, providing a calm and comfortable environment for kids to meet Santa at their own pace.
Ayesha Nickson, Dobbies’ events programme manager, expressed her excitement about the upcoming festive attractions, highlighting the focus on creating magical moments that families can cherish for years to come. The garden centre will also host other festive events, such as a charity Christmas shopping night in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust, a festive afternoon tea, and a Santa Paws photo opportunity.
