Strictly’s Wynne Evans and Katya Jones address fan concern over ‘weird’ behaviour on live show

Strictly Come Dancing’s Wynne Evans and Katya Jones have addressed concerns raised by fans regarding their behaviour during the live show on Saturday night.

Viewers expressed unease over an awkward interaction between the opera singer, Wynne Evans, aged 52, and his professional partner, Katya Jones, as Jones was seen moving Evans’ hand from her waist back onto her hip in the background of a shot. Subsequently, fans also observed Jones avoiding a high-five from Evans and rolling her eyes while waiting for scores with host Claudia Winkleman alongside other contestants.

These moments quickly went viral on social media, prompting speculation and comments from viewers online. Responding to these concerns, Evans and Jones took to social media to reassure fans that everything is fine between them. In a video shared online, Jones explained they were just joking around during the show and apologised for any confusion caused.

Fans showed support for the pair, with one commenting on the post, expressing relief that the situation was clarified quickly. The duo performed a Tango to ABBA’s “Money, Money, Money” on Saturday night, impressing the judges and receiving their highest score of the competition so far, placing them joint second on the leaderboard with 34 points.

Anton Du Beke praised the performance as one of Evans’ best dances, while Motsi Mabuse commended it as his personal favourite so far. Despite minor criticism from Craig Revel Horwood, the judges overall loved the routine.

The duo’s clarification and strong performance have reassured fans and put to rest any concerns about their partnership on the dance floor. The incident highlights the intense scrutiny that celebrities and professional dancers face on shows like Strictly Come Dancing, where every move is watched closely by eager viewers.
